Trinity Church in Rockland celebrates Twelfth Night |
||||
|
"Christmas isn't over until the Magi show up!" says the Rev. Sarah Brockmann, rector of Trinity Church in Rockland. "The Twelve Days of Christmas are the church's way of counting the days between the birth of Jesus on Christmas Day and the arrival of the Magi on January 6th, the Feast of the Epiphany, which is also called Twelfth Night. That means we can keep celebrating right through the beginning of January!". To mark the ending of Christmastide, Trinity Church will offer an interactive worship service, followed by a pot-luck supper, on Friday, January 6th. "Stations of the Magi is a fairly brief, very family friendly service which walks us through the journey of the Wise men from the East, through their audience with King Herod, to the manger, and through their escape from Judea. There are parts for a number of costumed players, and we'll have special music as well." says the Rev. Brockmann. Costumes, especially of the Renaissance or Medieval periods, are strongly encouraged. "Boston may have First Night, but Rockland has Twelfth Night!" All are welcome to attend this festival celebration. For more information, please call the church at 781-871-0096, or visit Trinity Church on Facebook or on the web at www.trinityrockland.org . |
